The selection for this year’s CineMundi Section is a reflection of the diversity of projects that have passed through the program since its creation 14 years ago. But they are also films that, despite being very different from each other, reflect the issues and afflictions that have run through contemporary Brazilian production. With radically different themes, approaches and aesthetics, these films have in common a desire to expose the viscera of Brazilian patriarchal structures and their effects on society and individuals. They are also examples of unique production models and circulation paths.
