INTERNATIONAL LAB – TEST YOUR AUDIENCE STRATEGY

Taught by Isona Admetlla, this international lab consists of three complementary activities: masterclass, practical exercises and pitching sessions. A theoretical and practical approach, which offers tools, training and targeted feedback to design an audience strategy.

Activity 1 | Online Masterclass – AUDIENCE DESIGN – DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES
Films are written, financed, produced, shot,  and edited. Before they become films, projects participate in many co-production markets. And one day they may be invited by one or even several festivals – and then meet an audience for the first time. How to deal as a producer and/or director with the biggest production challenge, particularly in these days? This applies to all films today: the engagement with the   with the future audience of a film must start very early. During or even before the shooting or the final production of a film,  Audience Design must become part of the production, it’s about contextialising the visibility of the film starting from a deep understanding of the project, an identification of the audiences and an ongoing dialogue with them, the earlier the better. This workshop will present the methodological framework and an approach to the incredible potential that Audience Development Strategies have, enlarging the classic approach to marketing and distribution and connecting it with the art of filmmaking.

Activity 2 | Training
During the master class, the working methodology, exercises and various examples will be shared so that each team can put them into practice by developing their own audience strategy.

Activity 3 | “Test Your Audience Strategy” Onsite Sessions
Two presentation sessions, in pitch format, of the practical audience design exercises sent in activity 2 of this workshop. The twelve projects selected in the DocBrasil Meeting and Foco Minas categories are eligible for these presentations.
