Brazilian filmmaker, born in Belo Horizonte and based in Contagem (MG). He graduated from Escola Livre de Cinema/BH and holds a degree in Social Communication – Cinema and Video from UNA. He is a co-founder of the production company Filmes de Plástico (2009), alongside André Novais Oliveira, Maurílio Martins, and Thiago Macêdo Correia. Throughout his career, he has directed 12 award-winning short films, including Contagem (Best Direction at the Brasília Festival, 2010), Dona Sônia Pediu uma Arma ao seu Vizinho Alcides, Meu Amigo Mineiro, and Rapsódia para o Homem Negro. In 2017, he released Nada, selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes, and co-directed O Nó do Diabo. The following year, in partnership with Maurílio Martins, he directed the feature film No Coração do Mundo (2019), which was screened at international festivals and released in both Brazil and France. His first solo feature, Marte Um (2022), premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, won over 30 awards across 70 festivals, and was Brazil’s official submission for the 2023 Oscars. His upcoming releases include O Natal dos Silva and Vicentina Pede Desculpas, scheduled for 2025 and 2026, respectively.
