In 1981, he founded Cema – a pioneering institution for Uruguayan audiovisual expression – where he alternated roles as photographer, screenwriter, producer, and director. He directed El Viñedo (2000) and Matar a Todos (2006). In 2012, he premiered as executive producer Selkirk, the Real Robinson Crusoe, the first Uruguayan animated feature film, directed by Walter Tournier. He is also the executive producer of Vacío (Ecuador, 2019) and Eurídice, Allá Lejos (France, 2020). In 2024, was the co-director and screenwriter of the documentary La Huella de las Palabras. In 2025, he began working on Pueblo Chico, a stop-motion animated feature film, co-produced with Spain and Brazil, scheduled for release in 2027.
